Rafael Nadal slumped to defeat in his ATP Finals opener on Tuesday, but he has a message for anyone thinking that injury may have played a part in it…
Alexander Zverev agrees with Nadal, by the way, which is no great shock given that Nadal thought that he was bloody brilliant.
In the other match, Stefanos Tsitsipas finally beat Daniil Medvedev, but don’t worry about a budding bitter rivalry dampening down any time soon because he still doesn’t like him and he’s made that pretty clear…

Rafael Nadal has been in the news pretty much all week really, as we’ve watched with our fingers crossed hoping he overcame injury to play in London.
Then, of course, he lost and didn’t play well at all, so we started crossing our fingers again that he wasn’t going to reveal he had an injury problem and would pull out after one match.
All seems fine, though, so one particularly strange member of the press, Italian journalist Ubaldo Scanagatta, decided to take the chance to just annoy Nadal instead – before being put firmly in his place by the world number one.
